Moving Windmills Project
Moving Windmills Project is a US 501(c)3 non-profit working on rural economic development in Malawi and producing a documentary film. The inspiration at the root of the organization is William Kamkwamba, a remarkable young man from a remote Malawi village.
William was forced to drop out of school at age 14 because his struggling family could not afford the $80 per year tuition. Rather than lose hope, William found a picture of a windmill in a textbook and decided to build one to power his family’s home. The electricity generated by William's windmill changed his family's life. Now, together with the talented, devoted team at Moving Windmills Project, William is working to change his village, Malawi and the world. We are proud to lend our services to such a worthy endeavor.
Moving Windmills Website
The Moving Windmills website is a hub for all projects William Kamkwamba: from his personal story, to the working feature-length documentary, to his book, to community initiatives in William’s village of Wimbe, Malawi. Moving Windmills Business Cards
A photo of William with his first windmill symbolizes Moving Windmills Project's mission and documentary film sparked by his amazing story. William was very happy to get his cards! We know he'll put them in the hands of some amazing people.
Leveraging the book's cover art, a second set of cards introduces William as co-author of The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind.
Moving Windmills Information Graphic
William's story of how he constructed his first windmill is so incredible. We felt an exploding diagram of the windmill along with supporting pieces of the story, such as items powered by his original windmill and a timeline, would give readers a better perspective on William's achievement.
